Participants will explore practical tools like ChatGPT, image generators, and AI-based platforms that can enhance lesson planning, student engagement, and formative assessment.
Emphasizing both opportunities and ethical considerations, the session empowers teachers to integrate AI responsibly and creatively. Through interactive demonstrations and real-world applications, educators will gain confidence in using AI to personalize learning, boost productivity, and prepare students for an increasingly digital future—aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 for innovation in education.
Workshop 3: Gamifying ELT in VR classrooms: An interactive workshop exploring VR gamification ideas for immersive English teaching
Workshop delivery by Mr. Yasser Cherifi

This workshop demonstrates how instructor-led Virtual Reality (VR) lessons can be enhanced through the strategic use of interactive games, bringing a new level of engagement and participation to the English Language Teaching (ELT) classroom. Designed for both VR headset users and participants accessing in 2D via mobile or desktop, the session blends practical demonstration with hands-on exploration.
Educators will learn how to embed short, purposeful games such as VR scavenger hunts, team-based challenges, and role-based speaking activities. These game-based tasks are used to reinforce grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills in an immersive, learner-centered way while still maintaining clear structure and instructional goals.
Using real examples from classes delivered with Meta Quest 3 and Engage VR, the workshop provides actionable frameworks and ideas that replicate the best of traditional classroom interaction in a virtual space. Whether you are new to VR or already exploring immersive tech, you will leave with practical strategies to gamify your lessons and make your ELT sessions more dynamic and memorable.
