Master English, an “active” Teacher Training Centre, recognized for delivering quality teacher training programs for teachers (ASIC-UK International accredited Institution), , held its Annual Symposium Meet at Inter-Continental, Jeddah on the 17th of February, 2018.
The meet included local and international speakers and fun-filled sessions and activities. This event was all about education and rejuvenating the teaching practices. It was a unique event with international and regional leaders in education sharing their expertise. The program was basically scheduled into five sessions: ‘Differentiated Instruction Strategies’, ‘Metacognitive Strategies in Learning’, ‘Teacher Leadership’, ‘Effective Student Engagement’, ‘Tech Support in Classrooms’ and ‘Quality Assurance’. The ‘Symposium’ program proved to be a productive event with reputed speakers from reputed institutions and dynamic presentations. The event had high attendance from Government schools, Universities and International Schools and it was an accredited professional development event. The event had certificates of attendance for the attendees, lavish lunch, free consultation and unlimited coffee break for all.
The session on Differentiated Instruction Strategies was done by Bushra Latif (MEET-Head Trainer), Dr. Uzma Raheem (HOPE Center) held the Metacognitive Strategies-in-Learning, Teacher Leadership tips were given by Claire M Hattle (SmartCM, Cambridge Trainer), Ms. Fatima Al Ghamdi (Supervisor, Ministry of Education) took up Effective Student Engagement session, Salman Imdad (Batterjee Education & Training ) spoke on Tech Learning in Classrooms and Kamal Kheir Allah ( Academic Director, Zahrat al Sahra International School) lead a session on Quality Assurance.
The program started with an introductory speech by Fatmah Azam Ali, Executive Director, Teacher Trainer at Master English Education & Training, GCC. Fatmah in her speech welcomed all the honouring educators and professional presenters, the participants, the media and all the attendees. She highlighted the agenda of the Symposium MEET 2018 and congratulated all on the eight-anniversary celebration of Master’s English.
Claire M. Hattle, international speaker and a certified Cambridge Trainer was the keynote speaker at the Symposium event.
The event started with Claire M.Hattle explaining the concepts of ‘Teacher Leadership’. She discussed about the true qualities of a leader and about the ways of effective leadership skills and management at the place of work. She discussed on helping people win at work and ways to establish a tribe. He spoke on the ‘Primary Colors Model’ about thoughts and figuring out which way to go, about feeling and emotional intelligence and Action/Getting things done. She discussed the issues and strategies at institutes and procedures to help the teachers lead and guide the students for acquiring quality education.
Fatima Al Ghamdi, the supervisor working for the Ministry of Education (English Language Department spoke on 10 ways to promote Student Engagement. She discussed about ways to enhance students’ self-belief, about how to enable students to work autonomously, recognizing teacher’s role, creating active and collaborating learning, creating challenging educational experiences, Project-based classrooms, emotionally safe classroom, intellectually safe classrooms, practicing journal or Blog Writing, creating a culture of explanation instead of culture of right answer, teaching self-awareness, and how to increase the quality of work.
Dr. Uzma Raheem, clinical psychopathologist & Director of HOPE, for exceptional needs, explained the concept of using Metacognitive Strategies. She discussed the major issues like Planning and Organizing, Monitoring own work, Self-Respect and ways to direct own learning. She stressed on Self Analyzation, Self Evaluation, and Peer grouping strategies.
Bushra Latif, MEET Head Trainer, spoke about the concept of Differentiated Learning Strategies. Bushra, highlighted on the Bloom’s Taxonomy of Analysis, Synthesis, Application, Comprehension and Knowledge based learning. Her session was interactive and filled with fun activities.
Kamal Kheirallah, Academic Director of Zahrat Al Sahra Schools and head of the QA unit provided a comprehensive insight on Quality Assurance. Kamal Kheirallah spoke on what Quality Assurance is, on how to keep up with standards. He further discussed about Realistic Thinking, Starting with Basics, Positive Thinking, Action Research, Continuous Improvement, the 4D Cycle (Discover, Dream, Design, Destiny) and the Action Plans.
Munawarunnisa Nazneen, Overseas editor, Public Front Newspaper, Freelancer Journalist KSA, Educator at Jeddah Grammar International School, in her ten-minute session continued with the concept of Quality Assurance highlighting on present methodology of education and ‘Smart Learning’ system. She stressed on the requirement of proper ‘Lesson planning’ and ‘Essential Questions’ for the improvement of the quality of education for creating innovative leaders.
Salman Imdad Kalyanvi, Instructor at Batterjee Education and Training Academy endorsed the use of advanced technology in classrooms to make learning fun and effective. Salman in his session highlighted on how the students’ engagement can be increased by 110% by using latest technologies in classrooms. He discussed about http://www.labster.com, the Virtual lab technology, fully interactive advanced lab simulations based on algorithms that support open-ended investigations. He even discussed about the http://drive.google.com and its services.
The complete event was a fully knowledge-based interactive session with fun-filled lucrative activities.
Fatmah Azam Ali, at the end of the session, presented a special quote of thanks to the speakers, distinguished guests and all the attendees. The event ended with the felicitation of awards and certificates to the Speakers and the prominent staff of Master’s English and the Certificate of participation to the Attendees.
